EAT.RUN. calculation guide
How far is that meal?
EAT.RUN. does not turn every calorie you eat into a distance. It estimates your daily energy needs from your profile and shows an approximate running distance only when recorded intake is above that estimate.

Information used
Your height, weight, age, sex and usual activity level are used to estimate daily energy needs. EAT.RUN. then adds the calories in today's food log and checks whether the total is above that estimate.
How the distance is estimated
- Estimate total daily energy needs from the profile.
- Add the calories in today's recorded foods.
- Calculate excess energy only when intake is above the daily estimate.
- Display distance using the simple approximation of about 1 kcal per kilogram of body weight per kilometer.
What does 0 km mean?
Recorded intake is currently at or below the estimated daily energy need. It is not medical guidance or a recommendation to eat more.
When should I log meals?
You can enter today's meals together before a run, or log each meal as you eat to review the day. Tap frequent foods for quick entry, long-press to adjust a portion, search the library or add a custom food.
How to interpret the number
Food calories, daily needs and running distance are estimates. The result is not a required distance, a safe exercise prescription or a weight-loss guarantee. Food does not need to be earned or paid back through exercise. Ask a qualified health professional for individual medical guidance.
